Hi,
After getting a couple of messages about students not knowing what exactly is Student Hour (which should have been explained at Orientation or at least on the UB website...), I decided to elaborate about it here briefly.
What is Student Hour?
This is an official students' time where there should be NO CLASSES, in which at least one hour is given for students to spend time in clubs or attend various colloquia or symposiums accessible to all students.
The current Student Hour is every Wednesday from 2:00-3:00 PM
What is the purpose of Student Hour?
Your time and invested efforts in college cannot only be academically based!
To build your professional skills, character and experience, there are available extra-curricular activities and events for students to enhance their holistic development and exposure to new trends or topics of interest.
Don't assume that you will only attend the events that are strictly related to your field of interest. There are always other activities and subjects that you can explore for a better sense of understanding.
Likewise, various UB or SG events or meetings are very important for you to attend! Because being familiar with "What's happening" at UB, whether academic, financial, social or recreational- related, will also help you realize what current services or developments will be of benefit to you!
Student Hour is also especially important for SG members to meet!
What if I don't have my Student Hour?
Early registration is nigh! It is from April 25 - May 2, 2017 (for coming August semester).
Please make sure that any of the courses that you will need to take (from your program sequence as an FST student) should not have any classes during the current Student Hour (Wed 2:00-3:00 PM).
If there are clashes with Student Hour, you have the RIGHT to ask Records to adjust the time schedule so that your student hour is available to you!
Remember, this is for your own deserved benefit to develop yourself more during your time at UB.
If you still cannot have your Student Hour, please contact me ASAP at ubsenfstbmp@gmail.com about which course + time is clashing for you, and I will see what I can do!
If you fail to address your right to Student Hour after early registration period, then I am afraid I will not be able to help you! My duration as current SenFST is only up to May 4!
But I will still make sure the next SenFST will continue helping students keep their Student Hour during the Regular registration period. Please contact the same email!
